Bengaluru, July 19: Indian racer Kush Maini was on Sunday reinstated in third place after he successfully appealed a stewards' ruling to exclude him from the results of the first round of the CIK-FIA European Championship at Portimao, Portugal, in May.

The 14-year-old and David Vidales, who were battling for third position in the race, came together. Vidales went off the track while Maini went on to finish third only to be excluded from the results after the stewards ruled that the Indian had "pushed the competitor off the track".

Maini, however, appealed the ruling. After reviewing both video footage and the regulations regarding driver conduct on track, his exclusion was withdrawn and his third place was reinstated.

The reinstatement means that Maini is placed sixth in the updated championship standings (KF Junior) as he heads into the final round of the European Championship at Kristianstad, Sweden, from July 23 to 26.

Maini said: "It is good to have my results reinstated as it gives me a good shot at the championship going into the final round. I'd obviously like to thank my team Forza Racing for the effort they put in to win the appeal and I hope I can return their hard work with a good result in the final round."
