Kamala Harris Makes History with tie-breaking Votes in Senate

VP Kamala Harris, is no stranger to making history and now she has done it again by matching the record for most tie breaking votes in the senate.

On Wednesday, her 31st vote, advanced the nomination of Kalpana Kotagal to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The only other vice president to cast so many such votes was John C. Calhoun, who was vice president from 1825 to 1832.

Harris’s predecessor Mike Pence cast a total of 13 tiebreaking votes during his tenure.
