“Dharma is formless. It acquires its form through the various methods of worship. Dharma is soul while the method of worship is body.” -Acharya Tulsi
This beautiful quote written by Acharya Tulsi truly depicts using body as a means of worship to do Dharma. Blood is that fragile blossoming tree all carry within them, which makes blood donation the highest service one can render to humanity.
On Acharya Tulsi’s birth centennial celebrations, JVB Preksha Meditation center on September 6 embarked on a ‘Mega Blood Donation Drive and Bone Marrow Registry’in cooperation with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center from 10 am to 4 pm that saw many community members line up for the noble cause.
This campaign took place simultaneously in 700 camps in 300 cities worldwide. Total units collected worldwide were 100,000+, which was a new Guinness Book of World Record for maximum donation by an organization on a single day.
The campaign envisioned JVB’s pioneering role in serving the local community and in meeting its needs. The entire effort was meant to encourage the Houston Community to meet their responsibilities as good citizens and to be active participants in the activities, especially those of humanitarian and social nature.
The program received immense support from local community what with over 65 people coming forward to donate. While 44 people were able to successfully donate blood, 20 registered for the bone marrow drive. Lunch, fruits and juice were served for the entire time.
The JVB Preksha Meditation Center conducts regular Preksha meditation sessions which is the practice of purifying emotions and consciousness, and realizing one’s own self.
Mediation augurs attitudinal change, behavioral modification and integrated development of one’s personality. Started in 1970, Preksha Meditation is the result of the untiring efforts of Ganadhipati Tulsi and Acharya Mahapragya.
