IPL scam: BCCI official meets Delhi Police chief

New Delhi, May 20 (IANS) The BCCI's anti-corruption unit head Monday met the Delhi Police chief seeking cooperation in the spot-fixing scandal and also requested the Rajasthan Royals franchise to file a First Information Report (FIR) against the three tainted players.

Speaking to reporters after the half-hour meeting with Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar, Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) chief Ravi Sawani said the meeting was "successful" and the police chief had "assured cooperation".

"I would request the Rajasthan Royals to file an FIR against the players. Meanwhile, a disciplinary enquiry is on and action will be taken after collecting all the evidence," he added.

S. Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan — all playing for the Rajasthan Royals — were arrested in Mumbai late Wednesday night by Delhi Police for alleged spot-fixing in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The BCCI Sunday had an emergency meeting in the wake of the spot-fixing scandal and set up a panel to probe it. It also decided that agents of all players will now need to be accredited with the board while a BCCI-ACSU official, along with a security officer, will be assigned to each IPL team for its regulation.

The Rajasthan Royals management, who were invited for the meeting, expressed their intention to file a police complaint against the tainted trio.
