Some of the key findings of the study indicate that Indian restaurants account for just 7 percent of all restaurants serving Asian food in America. This would mean that at 7 percent, Indian food is amongst the most underrepresented Asian food in America.

Despite a large population of Indians in America, Asian food is still dominated by Chinese, Japanese and Thai food that top the list of popular Asian foods in America in the research.

The study says that 71 percent of Asian restaurants in the US serve Chinese, Japanese and Thai food.

Amongst Asian food Chinese continues to be most popularly known in America. Most Asian eateries are also concentrated in areas with highest Asian populations like California, New York, Texas, New Jersey and Washington. 45 percent of all Asian eateries in the country are concentrated in these states.

The survey clearly shows that there is an apparent gap in the market when it comes to Indian restaurants. With the growing Indian population in America and an increasing interest in Indian food, there can be a lot more that can be offered to Americans when it comes to Indian food.
