LEAGUE CITY, TX-An Indian American man was detained on June 29 in connection with the shooting of two people from League City, Texas, one of which was fatal.

Sayantan Ghose, 41, was taken into police custody after being detained at a border checkpoint near Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Ghose allegedly shot 43-year-old Clarence Wayne Harris II and 36-year-old Amanda Harris in the evening hours of June 28.

An arrest affidavit said that Amanda Harris, the ex-wife of Ghose, was attempting to conduct a citizen’s arrest on her former spouse when he showed up uninvited at her front door, according to a media report citing court documents.

Harris said that Ghose had stalked her for nearly a decade, according to the court documents cited in the report.

At least five people, including two children, were involved in the altercation, which included possibly three handguns that fired 11 shots.

According to League City police, Harris II had been shot multiple times and his body was found lying lifeless in the driveway in front of the League City house.

Amanda Harris, who arrived at her home at about 9 p.m. with her young daughter and daughter’s friend only to find Ghose at her doorstep, was transported to a hospital for treatment for multiple gunshot wounds.

The police said there was a party at the house, and at some point, the victims, who were also the owners of the house, had an argument with Ghose, which led to the shooting.

Ghose, who fled the scene before police arrived at the scene, was being held on $150,000 bond in connection with the murder.
