Indian Civil Servant Parameswaran Iyer is The New World Bank Executive Director

Parameswaran Iyer has taken charge as Executive Director, World Bank, representing India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka. Iyer is the former CEO of NITI Aayog, Indian government’s apex policy think tank. After his appointment, he tweeted, “A privilege to take charge last week in Washington DC as Executive Director, World Bank, representing India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka.”

Iyer will replace Haryana cadre IAS officer Rajesh Khullar at the World Bank, who will return to the country on the request of the Haryana government. Iyer will be assuming the charge of the post for three years.
