Indian American Surgeon Removed from Rutgers Amid Allegations of ‘Ghost Surgeries’

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Renowned Indian American surgeon Dr Anil Nanda has been removed from his post as the head of the Department of Neurosurgery at Rutgers Medical College in NJ. Nanda was removed amid allegations of performing ghost surgeries according to the university.

A ghost surgery refers to when a surgeon conducts surgeries on other surgeons’ patients with mutual agreement with the doctor but without the knowledge of the patient who is under the effect of anesthesia.

The university statement read: “Dr Nanda has been relieved from his positions as chair of the Departments of Neurosurgery at New Jersey Medical School and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and as Chief of the Neurosurgical Services at University Hospital and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.”
