DALLAS, TX – Indian American Muslims in Texas and California gathered together to protest against India’s ruling Bhartiya Janata Party and its atrocities such as demolition of Muslim houses in India.
After derogatory remarks made by two spokespersons of the ruling party there have been tensions in the country. Last week, authorities in the state of Uttar Pradesh bulldozed the house of Javed Mohammad, who they alleged masterminded the religious protests in the state. Bulldozers also razed the properties of protestors in other cities of Uttar Pradesh.
Renowned Islamic scholar, Shaikh Omar Sulieman led the protest in Dallas, which was jointly organized by the Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC) and North Texas peace council. Over 500 protesters also gathered in the Bay Area for a protest by IAMC. Shaykh Alaeddin El-Bakri of the Islamic Society of North America led the Bay Area protest. Protesters in both Dallas and the Bay Area sought a response from the American Muslim community to mobilize US Congress and the Biden Administration to compel India to end its atrocities of its 200 million Muslims.
