India reports 2,59,170 new cases, 1761 deaths in last 24 hours

India recorded 2,59,170 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, taking its covid caseload to 1,53,21,089 while active cases surpassed the 20-lakh mark, according to the Union health ministry data updated on Tuesday. The death toll increased crossed the 1.8 lakh mark with record 1,761 daily new fatalities.
