IHCNJ’s free health fair

BRUNSWICK, NJ — On August 13, a free health screening and disease awareness and prevention fair was held at Durga Mandir in South Brunswick, NJ.

 

The health fair was organized by the Indian Health Camp of New Jersey (IHCNJ) in collaboration with Durga Mandir for the fifth consecutive year which benefited some 110 people. IHCNJ, a non-profit organization, held this health fair for the 19th consecutive year to benefit needy people in the community.

Next year, IHCNJ will celebrate its 20th anniversary, a major milestone of its dedicated community service for south Asians. It will also hold its last health fair in 2017 at Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Secaucus, NJ on November 12.

The health fair was open to all pre-registered participants above the age of 40 without any medical insurance.

The physicians, specialists, dentists, mental health providers and other allied health care professionals from various specialties of internal medicine, cardiology, ophthalmology, gynecology, urology, physical therapy, psychologist, dietary and nutritional specialist, pharmacist, phlebotomists, EKG techs, medical assistants, nurses, social workers and medical students provided their services.

The health screenings included blood test, EKG, vision screening for glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, physical examination, cardiology and physical therapy counseling, various types of cancer screening and prevention education, chronic disease self-management via ask your doctor, diabetes and many more tests.
