LAKE COUNTY, IL— Shree Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated at the Hindu Mandir of Lake County on Monday, September 3rd, 2018. Children attended the event dressed as Krishna and Radha, and in other colorful outfits, singing and dancing.
The temple’s shrine was intricately decorated and bhajans related to Janmashtami were sung by children and 15 children recited 3 chapters of Bhagavad Gita.
Later, many devotees performed Garbha and Dandiya to bhajans sung by Rita Patel, Sangeetha Singh and Athul Soni to celebrate the birth of Krishna.
Before Krishna’s Avataram, the temple priest, Pandit Ani Joshi Ji delivered his Pravachan on the significance of seva of Lord Krishna. Shree Yogesh Pandey chanted Vedic Mantras while Anil Joshi Ji performed special Abhishekam of baby Lord Krishna. Then, Lord Krishna was placed in the beautifully decorated Palana/Julha. Archanas and Maha Mangalarati were performed with all the devotees. Anil Joshi Ji greeted all the devotees by saying “Jai Shree Krishna” and blessed all the devotees, especially children for their bright future, good health, and peace.
The temple kitchen lead by Pramila Dutt and Kamal Ji served prasadam and bhog all day for the special Janmashtami night event. Mr. Shammi and Mrs. Sangeeta Dhall were the main sponsors of the event. Mr. Shammi also thanked all sponsors for their dedicated support and all the temple priests for their wonderful services. He also acknowledged with much appreciation the time and seva of all the volunteers.
