FREMONT, CA — A group of high school students from various parts of the San Francisco Bay Area are trying to make a difference in the lives of children belonging to low-income families, one kid at a time.
The young volunteers conducted a dental health awareness camp at the Kidango Linda Vista Center in San Jose on July 14.
The initiative is the brainchild of Amreen Sunil, an Indian American senior at Mission San Jose High School here. As the founder of Aid4Kids, which seeks to improve the lives of underprivileged children through education and health services, Sunil has conducted multiple events like this across the Bay Area.
At the event, the enthusiastic team members made a presentation highlighting the importance of dental health and the different ways children can maintain good hygiene.
The team also read stories on dental hygiene to children of various age groups at the center. Esha Desai, the event coordinator for Aid4Kids, distributed free health and hygiene kits to the children.
And not just in the Bay Area, the teenagers are trying to help disadvantaged kids in other countries as well, including India.
