Melbourne, Nov 14: Brad Haddin was Friday ruled out of the remainder of the Carlton Mid ODI Series against South Africa but Australia's medical staff are hopeful that the wicketkeeper batsman will be fit for the first Test against India starting Dec 4.

"Brad has had a further assessment of his right shoulder by Cricket Australia (CA) Chief Medical Officer John Orchard in Sydney which confirmed an AC (Acromioclavicular) joint injury," CA physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said in a CA release.

“He has improved and responded to treatment since returning from the UAE but has not recovered sufficiently to return to training and therefore he has been declared unfit for the remainder of ODI series against South Africa.

“Whilst it is disappointing that Brad will miss the ODI series, the CA medical team are still hopeful that he will recover in time for the first Commonwealth Bank Test against India,” added the physiotherapist.

Haddin hurt his right shoulder while attempting a diving a catch during the second Test against Pakistan in the UAE.

Haddin was advised rest from the first two ODIs in Perth and CA selectors named Matthew Wade as his replacement, and now it is likely that Wade will fill the role for the rest of the series.
