Dubai, Dec 27: FIFA presidential candidate Prince Ali Bin Hussein said here on Sunday that the global football association needs to revamp its reputation and to take into account the needs of developing football nations more than ever.

Speaking at the 10th edition of the annual Dubai International Sports Conference which started here on Sunday, Jordan Football Association president Prince Ali said he has been travelling to many countries in recent months and was talking to officials from various national football associations, reports Xinhua.

Following diverse scandals at the FIFA in Zurich, Prince Ali said: "We have to get it right, we need proper consultation with everyone, including the clubs including the leagues and every service organization."

Fixing FIFA's reputation cannot work "when underground decisions are taken in Zurich, but only through democratic and transparent decision processes", said Prince Ali who lost his presidency candidature in May this year against long-time controversial president Sepp Blatter.

"I have been visiting many clubs and organisations in developing countries, and the majority of the 2009 FIFA national member associations are developing countries. Their interests must be better served and protected in the future," said Prince Ali.

The 40-year-old, a member of the Jordanian Royal family, added that journey of FIFA, founded in 1904, was not over at all.

"I believe FIFA has a future if we stakeholders, players, coaches, referees and fans work all together to revamp its organisation and reputation," he said.

On his FIFA presidency, Prince Ali said: "I do it because I love the sport. Football is not only for the love and fascination of sports, but also very important for our society, for our children and for families."

The two-day Dubai International Sports Conference will run through Monday.
