HI INDIA NEWS DESK
WASHINGTON, DC- The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is proposing new requirements for tobacco product manufacturers to ensure the protection of public health. The proposed rules would help minimize the risks associated with tobacco products and ensure their compliance with the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.

The proposed requirements would address issues such as contamination with foreign substances, inconsistencies in e-liquid labeling, and tracing and corrective actions for tobacco products that don’t meet specifications. The requirements would apply to manufacturers of finished and bulk tobacco products, and would establish a framework for product design, development controls, and the prevention of contamination.

The FDA will hold a public hearing and a meeting of the Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee to gather additional comments and recommendations. The public will have an opportunity to provide comments during a 180-day comment period and at the public hearing.
