NEW YORK, NY – West Indies cricket legend and iconic figure in white-ball cricket, Chris Gayle, alongside USA’s Ali Khan, illuminated New York’s Empire State Building to kick off the Trophy Tour for the imminent ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. Spanning 15 countries, the Global Trophy Tour is set to grace all nine host venues in anticipation of the historic tournament, slated to take place in the West Indies and USA.
In a ceremonious affair held at the Empire State Building, Gayle and Khan were bestowed the honor of initiating the Trophy Tour by pulling the lever to illuminate the iconic skyscraper in the vibrant navy and pink hues synonymous with the event.
In response to overwhelming demand, surpassing 3 million ticket applications in the public ballot, organizers have made available additional tickets for 51 out of the 55 matches, including those previously sold out.
This event marks a significant milestone as it’s the inaugural ICC World Cup hosted in the USA, featuring eight matches at the cutting-edge modular stadium boasting a seating capacity of 34,000, located in Nassau County, New York.
Moreover, the tournament will see the rejuvenated Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Dallas and Broward County Stadium in Lauderhill each playing host to four fixtures, showcasing the fervor for cricket across various regions.
