Dr. Nirmal Matoo Appointed as New Chairman of IAAC

NEW YORK, NY- Dr. Nirmal Mattoo has been appointed by the Board of IAAC as its new Chairman. Dr. Mattoo’s background as a philanthropist supporter of the arts and artists, educator, author, humanitarian doctor and successful businessman with a strong track record of building non-profit centers of excellence make him a strong and qualified leader to an important asset of the Indo American community.
This announcement was made in New York, where a gala gathering was held and attended by guests from the arts, media, and Indo American community. Consul General Ambassador Sandeep Chakravorty welcomed the IAAC members in his opening remarks.
The IAAC Board also honored Aroon Shivdasani, who announced her retirement, for her exemplary contributions in founding IAAC throughout the course of her life. Thanks to her sacrifices and hard work, the IAAC has become the premier art and cultural center for the Indo American community. The services of all of the retired board members and advisors are acknowledged with gratitude. Finally, the heart and soul of any community is its volunteers, and IAAC is very grateful for their service.
Ambassador Chakravorty presented Aroon Shivdasani with an award plaque and also a shawl in recognition of her services. He stressed the importance of creating and pursuing the arts.
The appointment of the new Executive Director of IAAC, Mr. Sunil Hali, was also announced at the gala, as well as incoming Vice Chairman of the Board, Rakesh Kaul, Board Members Anil Bansal, Anurag Harsh and Rajeev Kaul while Professor S. Sridhar, Yakub Mathew and Gaurav Verma join the Advisory Board. Rakesh Kaul will be joining as Vice Chairman of the Board
In his speech, Dr. Mattoo stated, “We look forward to serving the community and invite volunteers, interns, members and contributors to renew their commitment to IAAC and its mission.”
