CRY’s Bollywood bash to raise funds for kids

CHICAGO, IL – Residents of Chicago city and suburbs recently came together for a Bollywood dance event to raise money for children in need.

The event was organized by the Chicago Action Center of Child Rights & You (CRY), America – a nonprofit that works to restore the basic rights of children in underserved communities.

CRY Chicago’s Bollywood Dance & Social was held on the premises of University of Illinois at Chicago on April 13. In this fundraising event, Ajanta Chakraborty and Janani Neelakanthan, from Chicago-based dance studio, Bollywood Groove, held a fun, high-energy dance workshop and made all the guests groove in Bollywood style.

DJ Dhiraj Gupta from JSM entertainment played catchy music to keep the evening alive. Ryhana’s Cuisine, a well-known restaurant near the UIC area, catered delicious Indian delicacies to the attendees. All the participants also got an opportunity to socialize, bid for silent auction items and know more about CRY America and its mission.

The Bollywood Dance & Social was organized by leading members, Kushal Prajapati, Nikita Rath, Ankit Mahajan, and Sudip Pal of CRY Chicago Action Center. The event was possible also due to the hard work of dedicated volunteers, Devanshi Patrawala, Mallika Joshi, Avani Shah, Yash Dharmamer, and Suraj Gholap. The whole team executed the event smoothly and was able to raise awareness as well as more than $1000 from this event for the cause of child rights.

Kushal, lead of CRY Chicago, said: “About 50 people from diverse origins came to our event, enjoyed dancing, music, and food. All the proceeds will be donated to CRY America to empower the children in need.”
