Cook County Launches $3 Million Residential Solar Installation Program

Cook County Sun and Save program covers 100% of the costs associated with installing solar


CHICAGO, IL- Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle has allocated $3 million in funding for the Cook County Sun and Save program, a collaboration between Cook County and the Smart Energy Design Assistance Center (SEDAC).

This initiative installs solar photovoltaic (PV) systems at no charge for eligible homeowners in Cook County, reducing upfront costs and promoting clean energy accessibility. The program targets income-qualified single-family and small multi-family residences within Cook County, with homeowners living in the home or one of the units and household incomes between 80% and 120% of the Area Median Income. It runs until August 31, 2026, or until funds are exhausted, covering the entire installation cost.
