CBP Officers Prevent Child Smuggling Attempts at Port of Hidalgo

HIDALGO, TX- U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) arrested two women in separate incidents of alleged child smuggling through the Hidalgo International Bridge and Anzalduas International Bridge. During an examination of a 18-year-old U.S. citizen traveling with a one-year-old minor, CBP officers discovered that the minor was not related to her and did not possess valid entry documents.
Similarly, a 19-year-old U.S. citizen was arrested for allegedly smuggling a 16-year-old minor through the Anzalduas International Bridge. Both women were arrested for violating U.S. immigration law. CBP is a unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security responsible for protecting and managing the nation’s borders.
