California Officials Probing Influx of Migrants Arriving in Sacrament

SACRAMENTO, CA- Sixteen migrants from Venezuela and Colombia were transported by a private chartered jet to California and left outside a church in Sacramento. Officials accused a contractor for a Florida program of luring the migrants from a Texas migrant center with false promises of jobs in California.

The migrants had been approached in broken Spanish and asked to sign documents, but not all understood the destination or signed. The incident resembled a tactic used by Republican governors to protest President Biden’s immigration policies. California’s attorney general is investigating the episode and pledged to pursue possible criminal or civil charges.

The migrants met with California officials who promised to assist them. The migrants had been offered help securing jobs and other necessities but were dropped off in Sacramento without proper information or support. Several nonprofit organizations in Sacramento have been assisting the migrants.
