Rio De Janeiro, Aug 19: Sprint superstar Usain Bolt won his first 100 metre race of the season on a beach here clocking in a time of 10.06 seconds

Bolt cruised to victory on a four-lane standard running track set up on the Leme beach ahead of Mark Lewis-Francis of Britain, Jefferson Liberato Lucindo of Brazil and Wallace Spearmon of the US here Monday, reports CMC.

The Olympic champion and world record holder who was injury-stricken earlier this season, was running his first 100 metres since September last year.

The Jamaican athlete downplayed his win, saying he felt “sluggish” and that his final time was compromised by “a poor start”.

The Rio Olympics in two years is set to be Bolt's last, with retirement said to come soon after. While in Brazil, Bolt also took some time off to try samba, the South American dance, and play badminton with children from one of the country's inner city slums.
