Indian Origin Homeless Man Found Dead Outside Condemned House, Three in Custody

A passerby found the body of Pawandeep Singh, 27, on the porch of a boarded-up home

QUEENS, NY- A homeless man with a bloody gash on his head was found dead outside a condemned house in Queens, and cops have taken three people into custody.

A passerby found the body of Pawandeep Singh, 27, on the porch of a boarded-up home on Lefferts Blvd. at 95th Ave. in South Richmond Hill just after 9 a.m. Sunday and called police.

Singh had a wound on his head, and when cops found blood on a rear window of the house, they realized someone was inside, police sources said.

All three were taken into custody; charges were pending. The city medical examiner will determine how Singh died.

Investigators believe Singh was a homicide victim, though they’re still trying to determine what, if any, role the three people in custody played in the death, sources said.

The house has been abandoned since at least May 2016, when a fire ripped through the building. The city issued a full vacate order because officials feared it suffered structural damages, but neighbors have complained of squatters in recent years.

Neighbors say they have complained to the city about the abandoned home for years, saying teens use it to do drugs, and squatters come in and out daily.

“Whole bunch of homeless people going in there, high school kids as well. They would like sneak in, and no one ever did anything about it,” said neighbor Ravnit Kaur.

The Medical Examiner will work to determine the cause of death.
