Business Session on Advancing India-Missouri Partnership
Consul General interacted with members of the Indian American community in Columbia and St Louis and discussed about consular services, recent developments in India and ways to advance India-US partnership.
ST LOUIS, MO- The World Trade Center (WTC), St. Louis, in collaboration with the Consulate General of India, Chicago, Missouri Partnership and the Asian American Chamber of Commerce organized an interactive business session on 28 January 2020 in St Louis with the objective of expanding India-Missouri business linkages. The session was attended by about fifty representatives from the business community including start-up entrepreneurs in Missouri as well as senior representatives from trade bodies, regional chambers of commerce and Missouri State Government.
In their opening remarks, Mr. Tim Nowak, Executive Director, WTC, and Ms. Ann Pardalos, Manager (International Trade & Investment), Missouri State Department of Economic Development, highlighted the economic landscape of Missouri and potential for advancing India-Missouri business partnerships. Mr. Dennis Pruitt, Vice President, Missouri Partnership introduced the Consul General of India to the business gathering.
In his presentation, Consul General Sudhakar Dalela highlighted the trends in Indian economy, Government’s flagship programmes such as Make in India, Digital India, Skill India, Smart Cities, Ayushman Bharat, transformative reform measures taken by the Government of India in areas such as taxation, FDI policy, regulatory sphere, opportunities for investment in the infrastructure sectors, positive trajectory of India-US economic partnership and potential for strengthening business linkages between India and Missouri. He highlighted the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to making India a five trillion dollar economy by 2025. Consul General’s presentation was followed by a Business Panel discussion moderated by Mr. Al Li, Asian American Chamber of Commerce St. Louis, where participants shared their experiences of doing business in India, and discussed new opportunities for
strengthening bilateral economic cooperation.
Consul General called on Dr. Sam Page, St. Louis County Executive in his office on 28 January 2020 and discussed the crucial role and contribution of Indian American community in strengthening overall partnership between India and Missouri. Separately, he visited The Climate Corporation Office of Bayer and interacted with Mr.Mark Young, Chief Technology Officer and its senior leadership on their business engagement with India in harnessing digital technology for agriculture development. Consul General also met with CEO of the Missouri Partnership, Mr. Subash Alias.
During his visit to Missouri, Consul General visited the University of Missouri in Columbia on 6 January, the Washington University of St Louis on 27 January and the University of Missouri in St Louis on 28 January 2020 and had extensive discussions with the University leadership, faculty members and Indian students on their India connections and ways to deepen India-US knowledge partnership.
Earlier in the month, Consul General Sudhakar Dalela visited Jefferson City and called on Governor of Missouri, Hon’ble Mike Parson on 7 January, 2020 and discussed ways to strengthen India-Missouri partnership across diverse sectors. He invited Governor Mike Parson to visit India at his early convenience.
Consul General interacted with members of the Indian American community in Columbia and St Louis and discussed about consular services, recent developments in India and ways to advance India-US partnership.
