Grand Christmas Extravaganza Celebrated by ICANA
SCHAUMBURG, IL- A breathtaking evening of glittering dance presentations, stirring melodious carols, inspiring remarks and uplifting yuletide oration marked the Grand Christmas Nite celebrations organized by Indian Christian Association of North America [ICANA] on Friday, December 13, 2019 in Schaumburg, IL that drew a large gathering of families, children and a great host of top ranking elected officials to celebrate the festive season of Christmas.
This Grand Christmas celebration was remarkably enhanced by the presence of high-ranking elected officials: U.S.Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, Consul General of India Mr. Sudhakar Dalela, U.S. Congressman Sean Caston, Bishop Mar Joy Alappat Schaumburg Mayor Tom Dailey, Senator Laura Ellman, Michelle Mussman State Representative, Township Trustee Nimish Jani and several candidates including Cultural Chair Shree Guruswamy, candidates running for office Purnima Nath, Krishna Bansal and others joined the ceremonial lamp lighting ceremony.
The Christmas celebrations began with the lamp lighting ceremony led by host team of ICANA Gladson Varghese, Chairman, Keerthi Kumar Ravoori, President, Emmanuel Neela, Vice President, Satish Dadepogu Secretary, Anto Kavalackal, Joint Secretary and Sunil Gaikwad. The lamp lighting ceremony was conducted in the backdrop of beautiful strains of invocation carols rendered by Shirley Kalvakota, Sheetal Panchal, Michael Konda, Geena Gulla, Saritha Raj, Johnson, and Mohit & Tony Chettupally with interludes of the beautiful strains of Christmas carols through the evening sung to further elevate the festive merriment.
US Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi in his remarks thanked ICANA team for hosting grand celebrations befitting the festival of Christmas and added that in this festive season even his household enjoys the beautiful festive carol compositions in his home. Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi added the season of Christmas would usher hope, prosperity, goodwill and peace and wished all the guests a Merry Christmas.
Consul General of India Mr. Sudhakar Dalela paid glowing accolades to the ICANA leadership team for hosting an impressive Christmas gala and said the Christmas celebrations marks a significant event in the Indian calendar. Consul General Mr. Sudhakar Dalela complimented musical and dance presentations that depicted the story of Christmas very artfully and commended each participant for their artistic fervor in their presentations. Consul General Sudhakar Dalela was specially acknowledged by ICANA team for his exceptional humanitarian gesture in reaching out the mother of the young student who was raped and murdered at the UIC Chicago campus recently. He was applauded for offering comfort and assurances and support of the office of the Consulate General.
U.S.Congressman Sean Caston, 6th Congressional district offered Christmas greetings to the Indian American community and said he is pleased to join in the grand celebrations put together by ICANA team. Schaumburg Mayor Tom Dailey extended warm festive greetings to the guests and assured of the assistance of his office in matters important to the Indian American community; while Nimish Jani offered warm Christmas greetings.
The celebrations were interspersed with brief award presentations given away to George Molakal, Syed Hussaini, Anil Loomba, State Bank of India, Thomas Ouseph & Peter Isaac Albert.
Earlier, ICANA Chairman Gladson Varghese welcomed the guests, families, community, business, church leaders and the elected officials and spelled out the vision and mission of ICANA. Chairman Gladson Varghese recognized the prominent leaders who have joined in the collaboration to unitedly celebrate and specially acknowledged the robust support of the sponsors. Gladson Varghese thanked Bishop Mar Joy Alappat for his enthusiastic support and blessings. ICANA President Keerthi Kumar Ravoori presided over the ceremony and introduced various elected officials and dignitaries. Keerthi Kumar Ravoori remarked that Christmas is a universal festival that is joyously celebrated all around the globe.
Bishop Mar Joy Allapatt in his yuletide sermon explained the significance and meaning of Christmas and eloquently presented the central theme of Christmas message of salvation to all humankind through the birth of Jesus Christ. Bishop’s message delineated the true meaning of Christmas which he emphasized is all about God’s boundless love for humanity and added the spirit of Christmas manifests hope, love, peace & joy.
Emmanuel Neela, ICANA Vice President recognized dignitaries and sponsors; while Anto Kalavakal introduced Bishop and Satish Dadepogu proposed a vote of thanks. Ms. Gauri Yadav sand national anthem, while St. Thomas Marthoma Church & CSI Christ Church of Kerala sang melodious Christmas carols.
Several prominent community and business leaders took to the podium to offer Christmas greetings including Purnima Nath, Miss Illinois Monica Patankar, Shree Guruswamy, Prameela Potla, Dr. Shobha Chokalingam, Suneetha Christina, Dr. Regi Paul, Mrs. Nageshwari Cherikonda, FIA’s Neil Khot, NCAIA National President Harish Kolasani, Chicago’s cultural icon Mona Bhalla, Manjit Bhalla, Raes Yawar, Laddi Singh, Gandhi Samaj President Hitesh Gandhi, Altaf Bukhari, Jasbir Kaur & Subhash George.
