Grand Celebration of First Cultural Festival by IACA
DOWNERS GROVE, IL-On Sunday, July 21st 2019, the Indian American Cultural Association (IACA), Chicago, IL celebrated first Cultural Fest, held at Ashyana banquets in Downers Grove, IL. Around 300 people attended the event.
IACA Chicago is as an all-encompassing Not-for-profit Organization Indian-American cultural organization, founded in 2018 to function in cooperation alongside various associations represented in Chicagoland area on the mission to promote and preserve the rich Indian and American Cultural diversity. IACA Chicago will work tirelessly for the inclusion of children who live with special needs or different abilities through their volunteering program. IACA is the brainchild of IACA President Vinita Gulabani, and ably assisted by IACA Secretary Ms. Shanu Sinha.
The program opened by Vandana Jhingan and Pratibha Jairath with the warm welcome followed by Ganesh Vandana, performed by Kalapadma Dance Academy. President, Vinita Gulabani invited the board and MCs, Mr. Jassi Parmar and Ms. Bhairvi Tanna Thakkar from Desi Junction to present the show.
The Chief Guests, Hon’ble Consul-General Mr. Sudhakar addressed the gathering and wished IACA the best and extended the support from Consulate in their future endeavors.
Congressman, Mr. Danny K Davis addressed the audience too and very much appreciated the noble cause and praised it’s effort and an all encompassing effect on the betterment of the community.
The Grand Sponsors, Mr. Anil Loomba, Mr. Sunil Shah and all the prominent dignitaries including Mr. Krishna Bansal, Syed Hussaini, Mr. Sampath Jayasekar and Ms. Malini from Air India, Dr. Anil and Asha Oroskar, Mr. Nimesh Jani, Dr. Srinivasan Reddy, Ms. Rita Singh and Mr. Nirav Patel who graced the event were invited on stage and greeted with flower bouquets for the traditional lamp lighting ceremony. The vedic mantras were chanted by Dr. Prerna Acharya from Indian Consulate to bless the organization.
President, Vinita Gulabani expressed her sincere gratitude for their kind support and thanked everyone. “When heart hurts, the soul matures”- she presented the message as she elaborated on IACA’s agenda and requested the gathering to donate their time and supporting monterily to the cause and also asked for people’s involvement in their volunteering programs. She expressed that we will use this as a platform to promote our cultural diversity, through personal touch in making a difference to our caring community we’re all a part of.
A group of talented Chicagoland singers took center stage to deliver the message “United We Stand, United We Serve” concept of unity, with their rendition of the ever-popular iconic song “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara” representing the various regions and languages of India and entertained the audience with ever popular film songs.
The cultural program started with the beautiful classical kathak fusion, Radha Krishna by Tarana Dance Academy, followed by Ghoomer and Garba by Mankruti Performing Arts, Bollywood fusion performances, Traditional folk dances, Giddha led by Neha Sobti group. The audience was thoroughly entertained by a glittering ensemble of dances and dancers by and from various Chicago based dance troupes representing various cultures and regions of India.
The show went on with the renowned singers from Chicagoland area entertained everyone with their melodious singing. Some of the names were quite familiar among Indian community were Pratibha Jairath, Raju Bankapur, Shaila Khedkar, Parimala Prasad, Jitendra Bulsara, Atul Verma, Geetanjali Maru and Manmeet Kaur.
The Vote of Thanks were presented by Chairman, Mr. Sohan Joshi and Secretary, Mrs. Shanu Sinha on behalf of Team IACA. All the Sponsors, Media Partners, Donors were acknowledged for their generous donations and contribution in making this event successful. Also, an extended heart-felt notes were presented to the hard working planning committee for their day and night support in presenting the evening.
Appetizers were served during the social hours. Open Dance floor was enjoyed by the public. The event concluded with flavors of Indian melodies, followed by a gourmet dinner prepared by Ashynaa, special thanks was presented to Mr. Surinder Jain.
