Indian Consular Services Held in St. Louis

ST LOUIS, MO- Mahatma Gandhi Cultural Center and India Association of St. Louis held Consular Services on 13 th July, 2019 in the Auditorium of Mahatma Gandhi Center. Consul General Mr. SudhakarDalela approved the service and sent three officers. The officers who offered the assistance to the St. Louis Indian Community were Mr.L.P. Gupta, Mr. R.K. Singh and Mr. Asim Mandal. The event was coordinated by Mr. SathishNanjappa, the secretary of India Association of St. Louis. Ashwin Patel, one of the community leaders and the owner of Seema Word Travel of St. Louis helped with not only Notary services, but also details regarding other amenities available to the people of Indian origin, such as OCI, Passport renewals, lost passports etc.

The effort was extremely successful due to the sponsorship and co-operation of the Directors of the two earliest Indian organizations that were incorporated in St. Louis. The event started promptly at 10am and ended at 3:30 pm as publicized. Over 50 families availed the opportunity. Many were disappointed and left as the services did not include the issuance of the visas, acceptance of OCI applications and renewal of passports on the spot. However, other services that included attestations of important documents was well received. Mr. Krishna Rao, the immediate past President and HaridasKartha the President elect of India Association coordinated the activities on the floor.

Mr. Sharath Rao, President of the Hindu temple took the group around the newly built facilities of the Hindu temple and the temple itself. As there was no time for the officers to go site seeing, their tour was limited to the premises only, although volunteers were available for a city tour. Although the officers had an initial apprehension about their visit, the cordiality of the Directors of these organization made a lasting impression. In fact they said they would hope to visit St. Louis as often as possible.

The members of India Association Board are Mr. Snanjeeva Rao Chintakunta (President), HaridasKartha (President Elect), SathishNanjappa (Secretary), Vijaya Lakshmi Buddhiraju (Treasurer), GirijaKasinadhuni, Meera Jain, VijayaBhutoria and Suren Pathuri.
