Man Charged with Attempting to Kill his Father for a Second Time
GAINESVILLE, FL- A Florida man free on bail after allegedly threatening to murder his parents two months ago plunged a kitchen knife into his dad’s neck in a second attempt to kill him, police said.
Amir Beg, 33, was arrested on an attempted homicide charge after deputies found his father stabbed multiple times in the face and neck at a home in Newberry where his relatives were visiting.
Investigators said it’s unclear how Beg got into the home — whether he was allowed inside or slipped through an unlocked door — but a violent confrontation broke out as Beg met his father in a living room, according to an arrest report from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.
Beg’s mother found her bloodied husband on the floor with a knife lodged in his neck after the attack, which occurred just two months after police said Beg pulled out a gun and threatened to kill his parents in their Orlando home.
Beg was arrested on May 13 on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery on a person aged 65 or older and conspiracy to commit battery. He was released two days later from an Orange County jail after posting $15,500 bail/
Beg’s father was listed in stable condition at a hospital in Gainesville.
Beg remains in custody Wednesday on $1 million bond, jail records show. It’s unclear if he’s hired an attorney.
