5th Intl. Yoga Day Celebrated by Consulate General of India, Chicago
CHICAGO, IL- The Consulate General of India, Chicago organized 5th International Yoga Day on June 15th, 2019 in Naperville, IL. The event was attended by over 500 people driving from various parts of the Midwest region including many community leaders and representatives of various associations.
Consul General Hon. Sudhakar Dalela along with consul P K Mishra welcomed the guests followed by Yogacharya Dr. Prerna Arya opening the yoga session with chants and prayers. program was began with Deep Pragatya ceremony performed by Consul General of India,Chicago,Sudhakar Dalela,Congress man Raja Krisnamurthy, Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico and Prerna Arya After Deep Pragatya every body sang National anthem of India and American anthem.
The distinguished guests present at the event included Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthy, Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico who commended the efforts put in by the consulate office team as well as volunteers to celebrate International Yoga Day. Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthy and Mayor Steve Chirico addressed the audience and participated in the exercise session that followed thereafter.
Various organizations came forward under the umbrella called “Friends of Yoga” to help making this event successful. Some of these organizations and community leaders included Sant Nirankari Mission, Sanjeevani, Art of Living, Sahaj Yoga, ARA, BAPS, HSS, Air India, State Bank of India, FIA,Bhartiya Seniors of Chicago, United Senior Pariwar, Indian seniors NRI Seva,Seniors group many more. The event was very well planned with refreshments arranged during as well as after the event. Consulate General of India Chicago arranged free buses to come at Naperville Yard and supply free yoga mat to participants also Air India and State Bank of India gave a free t shirts to all participants
