Beware of Imposters: Authorities Alert Public on Scammers Posing as Delivery Workers
Delivery Impersonators on the Rise: Officials Urge Caution in Handling Package Deliveries
HI INDIA NEWS DESK
HOUSTON, TX- According to authorities, scammers are posing as food delivery workers in order to break into homes. In Texas, a group of four men wearing hoodies attempted to enter a home while announcing themselves as DoorDash.
In California, a man posing as an Amazon delivery worker was seen on surveillance video approaching a home and stealing jewelry and other valuables with the help of three accomplices. The victims of these incidents have reported feeling violated and having their sense of security taken away. Both Amazon and DoorDash have confirmed that the individuals in these incidents are not delivery partners and are impersonators committing crimes against members of the community.
Both companies have stated that they will assist law enforcement in holding these bad actors accountable. Amazon advises that a driver will never ask to come into your home unless you pre-arrange help for something heavy, and DoorDash says you can always check the app to see when your driver is approaching in real time.
