Benfica beat Boavista 3-0 in Portuguese league

Lisbon, Feb 1: Benfica beat Boavista 3-0 in the 19th round of the Portuguese football league at the Luz Stadium here.

Brazilian forward Lima scored in the 23rd minute Saturday with a header following a pass from Uruguayan defender Maxi Pereira, reported Xinhua.

Pereira then went on to score in the 33rd minute from outside the area with a left-footed effort.

Brazilian forward Jonas added the third in the 55th with a penalty kick, which went flying past Swiss goalkeeper Mika.

Benfica are top of the Portuguese league with 49 points while Boavista are in 13th place with 19 points.
