Bangladesh-Origin Girl Dies After ‘Pushed’ on Subway Track in NY

NEW YORK, NY- In a shocking incident that sadly received not much media attention, a young Bangladeshi-origin girl died after falling on the subway tracks in New York. According to some reports the girl was actually pushed on the tracks by some miscreants.

Zinat Hossain was a 24 year old student at Hunter College in Brooklyn. On May 11 as she was planning to board the train, she was crushed under the train at 9.00 pm.

According to US based Bangla newspaper Thikana, snatchers reportedly pushed her on the subway track. According to the newspaper the police has yet not confirmed the identity of the snatchers as well as whether the incident was a hate crime.

The police, according to reports, do think that the snatchers were trying to take Zinat’s bag and she was pushed towards the subway track.

Dr Enamul Haque who is the president of the Greater Comilla Association in New York and also the maternal uncle of the girl informed that the girl’s family hailed from Daudkandi. She lived in New York with her parents Amir Hossain and Jasmine Hira.
