Bal Vihar of St Louis celebrates Holi

ST LOUIS, MO — Bal Vihar of St. Louis marked its Holi function on, March 3, with families gathering at Mahatma Gandhi Center (MGC) for this major celebration for the school children.

It is a great opportunity for families to socialize and mingle with each other. The weather had warmed up and was quite a welcome for an outdoor event. Everyone had lunch that was followed by a short speech on significance of Holi.

One could see the enthusiasm in the environment as children were running around throwing colors at their parents, friends and anyone they knew. Adults could be seen applying colors to the faces and greeting each other.

Bal Vihar will soon complete 25 successful years even as its popularity has grown with over 425 students now attending classes every other Sunday. Classes are focused on their overall cultural development that includes bhajan, yoga and regular curriculum that includes teachings on India, its states, history, culture, neighbors, etc.

Also known as Center for Indian Cultural Education, Bal Vihar of St. Louis is a non-profit organization. Since its inception in 1992, it has been serving the Metro St. Louis Indian community. The primary focus of this organization is to provide Indian cultural education to students age 5-18, its application and integration with the global multicultural and multifaceted society.
