Attempted Kidnapping at NYC Day Care Thwarted by Alert Staff

NEW YORK, NY- An unknown man attempted to kidnap a 3-year-old girl from a Queens day care center on Monday, according to the NYPD. The incident occurred at a facility located at 35-19 Leavitt St.

The suspect entered the building and informed the school staff that he was there to pick up a specific 3-year-old child, claiming that her father would be 20 minutes late. However, after checking their records, the staff realized that the man was not listed as an emergency contact.

Upon being informed that he could not take the child, the man stated he would wait outside. He then fled on foot, leaving the child safe and secure within the facility.
