Ahead Of New Year, Covidiots Flock To Markets Amid Omicron Scare & People Say ‘Bas Karo’

It was just beginning to seem like everything was finally going back to normal after two years (which felt like a century), when the news of a new variant ‘omicron’ started doing the rounds.  

Just before the year ends, the third wave of Covid is now hovering over us and our new year plans.

However, some people are still unfazed by the threat. Or maybe they are done being locked in their homes.  

Scores of people were seen flocking to the markets and travel destinations in full swing even with the states imposing restrictions.

Just a couple of weeks ago, there was a video from Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar market where people were shopping like there’s no tomorrow.  

Then, there was a picture from Kolkata’s Park Street where people had turned up in huge numbers to celebrate Christmas.

However, there’s a section of people who are still being cautious and maintaining precaution by staying at home, shelving all new year plans and avoiding public places, so we don’t have to go through the same turmoil like the last year during the first and second wave.

Seeing covidiots having the ‘zindagi na milegi dobara’ attitude during this time truly makes us shake our heads in disappointment.  

Some have expressed their surprise on social media via memes and reactions and begging these holidaymakers and shoppers to stay at home.

During the entire festive and wedding season, many people have been out and about and that too without face masks on.  

Now, just before the new year, restrictions are being imposed again to avert the third wave.

Is another lockdown on the way? Hope people limit their movement during the peak season or at least have their masks on.
