New Delhi, March 22 : Ace fashion designers David Abraham and Rakesh Thakore, who believe in the power of sustainable fashion, have not had a showstopper in any of their shows. And that’s because they feel that a designer’s collection should be the highlight, and not the person walking.

"We are not convinced to have a showstopper for the shows. I think when you are presenting a collection, it is got to do with what is the collection about and not about who is walking. Because the models have an identity, they are the ones who are wearing the garment, they are ones who portray the clothes," Thakore told IANS.

Takore, who presented the collection titled Back To Work at the Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn (AIFW) Winter 2017 here with Abraham, says that a showstopper takes away the attention that should be given to the creations, made with hard work and dedication.

"The minute you put a showstopper there, it draws attention to who is walking and wearing it, and unfortunately it is all about who wore the garment. Nobody talks about the collection, nobody talks about the silhouettes, the fabric… Nothing."

"The next thing you see is in the papers — they always have the photograph of who was the showstopper," Thakore added.

This time, AIFW saw celebrity showstoppers like Vaani Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Richa Chadha, Saakshi Tanwar, Nora Fatehi and Angad Bedi.
