5 Male Bollywood Characters Who We Passionately Hated But Now Realise They Weren’t That Bad

BUY-SELL | HELP WANTED | MATRIMONIAL

It’s no secret that most men are often misjudged and misunderstood. The same goes for the men in reel life too. I mean, the characters who are seemingly the bad guys. However, not all bad guys in movies are sadistic villains. Some are just real and flawed like most of us.

There are some male characters who we all got wrong. We passionately and unanimously loathed them because we were probably so blinded by the charm and sob stories of the main lead. However, after growing up and being a bit flawed ourselves, we realized that they were actually not that evil and had a reason to be the way they were.

Here are five male characters who were disliked by everyone but in fact, are real and highly misunderstood.

Anshuman from Jab We Met

Okay, hear me out. Anshuman was Geet’s boyfriend who used to sneak her out from her hostel and for all we know he never really promised to marry her. It was all in Geet’s head and the good guy Aditya even validated the fact that she was impulsive.

If a guy had shown up at a girl’s place and declared he had run away just to marry her, he would have been thrown out by her entire family. And talking about him ditching her, what did Geet do to him in the end? That’s right!

Narayan Shankar from Mohabbatein

Everytime I watch Mohabbatein, I hate Raj more than Narayan Shankar. In fact, Narayan Shankar was actually not that bad. He might be a bit strict but he loved his daughter and grieved her loss.

It was Raj who portrayed him as heartless and even blamed him for his daughter’s death. Who does that to a grieving father? Also, he was the principal of an esteemed boy’s boarding school. What do you expect him to do if his students broke hostel gates and went to eve-tease girls on Holi?

Subodh from Dil Chahta Hai

We never wanted to be Subodh or date a Subodh or have him as a friend because he was stuck-up, the human form of a time-table. But now that I think of it, he was a terrific boyfriend who genuinely cared about Pooja.

He remembered important dates, took her to romantic dinners and even tolerated Sameer who was trying to steal his girl. Meanwhile both Pooja and Sameer mocked him behind his back. Subodh deserved better.

Dr J. Asthana from Munna Bhai M.B.B.S

Yes, the way he insulted Munna’s parents was entirely wrong. However, he was not that evil. He is misunderstood. He was running a hospital and maintaining the decorum as the dean while dealing with a gangster who cheated on an exam and now danced in the OPD to treat patients?

Can you really blame him for being mad? Ask any real-life doctor and they would side with Dr. Asthana as well. We got him all wrong.

Chatur Ramalingam from 3 Idiots

We’ve all met a ‘Chatur’ while we were in school. Sometimes, it was our friend who would backstab us to get good marks. But do we really need to hate Chatur?

He was a teacher’s pet  but at least he was better than Rancho who was involved in an identity fraud, almost got his friends expelled (while he topped all exams) and even made Chatur’s speech a disgusting rape joke.

If you want to hate someone, hate Rancho.
