21st Annual Reunion of Sardar Patel University Alumni Held in New Jersey

FORDS, NJ- The 21st Annual Reunion of Sardar Patel University Alumni took place on September 9, 2023, at Royal Albert’s Palace in New Jersey. Over 500 SPU alumni and special guests attended the event.

Dr. Jagdish Trivedi delivered a humorous and witty presentation that had the audience in fits of laughter. Mr. Bhikhubhai Patel, Chairman of Charutar Vidya Mandal (CVM) and CVM University, was the Chief Guest, while Mr. Bharatbhai Patel, Chairman of AAHOA, and Dr. Jagdishbhai Trivedi were honored guests.

The evening began with the traditional Deep Pragatya and the garlanding of the revered leader, Pujya Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who played a pivotal role in envisioning the university in the late 1940s. Association President Mr. Alay Patel welcomed the attendees and recognized Bhikhubhai Patel for his leadership in elevating the quality of education at CVM in the 21st century. Bhikhubhai Patel presented a comprehensive report on CVM’s academic initiatives.

Mr. Bharatbhai Patel, Chairman of AAHOA, encouraged everyone to engage with the local community and politics to ensure their voices are heard, emphasizing the importance of involvement in political processes.

A tribute was paid to Late Shree Ashabhai Babarbhai Patel and his son Late Shree Manibhai for their charitable contributions to healthcare and academic institutions in Anand and Vallabh Vidyanagar areas. Ashabhai’s youngest son, Shree Chandrakantbhai, was honored for his academic and business achievements. Additional honorees included Dr. Gordhanbhai Patel, Dr. Raj Patel, Dr. Vithal Dhaduk, Mr. Albert Jasani, and Dr. Dineshbhai & Mrs. Shobhanaben Patel, the owners of Albert Hall.

Mr. Jatin Desai, Executive Vice-President of the SPU Alumni, appealed for donations to support the Alumni Association’s scholarship programs. Dr. Raj Patel emphasized the significance of contributing to education.

Dr. Vithal Dhaduk was recognized for his contributions in both India and the US, highlighting Pujya Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s leadership in uniting India, which involved bringing together over 500 royal kingdoms into one united Bharat.

Dr. Jagdish Trivedi began his speech by discussing five attributes: Patience, Attack or Action, Talent, and Education. He highlighted his extensive record of charitable contributions to education and healthcare, including his pledge to donate 11 crores years ago. To date, he has donated over 60% of his goal to various charitable causes. His appeal to donate to the Alumni Association was compelling due to his long history of philanthropic activities.
