Government gives details about Covid situation in five India states to EC

Amid the rising number of Covid-19 cases in India, the government has given data related to the situation in five states which are due to vote in February-March – Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur. The concern is not just regarding the polling practice but also the long, mass gatherings and rallies that the politicians will be doing ahead of these states going into the election mode. Hence it was necessary for the Election Commission to know about the situation before the democratic practice.
