CLOSTER, NJ- A 24-year-old New Jersey man has been sentenced to 7 1/2 years in federal prison after he admitted he cyberstalked four teenage girls and coerced them into sending him nude photographs.
Pritkumar Patel posed as a 17-year-old boy named “Taylor” in 2019 when he contacted three girls from Rhode Island and one from Indiana on social media, later threatening to send the photos to their classmates and family, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Rhode Island.
Patel, of Closter, also suggested at least one of the victims met him for sex and was “very pushing and demanding” in demanding photos, according to court papers.
Two of the victims were 14, one was 13 and one was 16 when Patel began reaching out to them on Instagram in 2019.
He pleaded guilty in May to one count each of receipt of child pornography and cyberstalking.
U.S. District Court Judge Mary S. McElroy issued the sentence Tuesday in Providence.
Patel will be deported to India after completing his federal prison term.
