Bengal CM calls CBI “his master’s voice”

Kolkata, Dec 14 (IANS) Virtually declaring war against the BJP-led central government over the arrest of her minister Madan Mitra in the Saradha scam, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Saturday questioned the CBI’s credibility and described the probe agency as "his master’s voice".

"The CBI has lost all credentials. It has become ‘his master’s voice’. It has become a political tool and time has come to wind it up," Banerjee said while addressing a rally here to protest against the arrest of Mitra.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Friday arrested Transport and Sports Minister Mitra in connection with the multi-crore rupee Saradha scam.

"Where was the CBI during Singur-Nandigram? Has it caught the people who killed Tapasi Malik? Have they caught the perpetrators of Netai violence," she asked referring to alleged incidents of violence during the erstwhile Left Front rule.

Taking the battle to the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government, Banerjee warned it about the consequences of using the CBI as a political tool.

"Some people think they can counter us by using CBI as a political tool. Stay within your limits or face the music," thundered Banerjee.

Ridiculing the central government, Banerjee said: "Kalidas axed the branch of the tree he was sitting on. Those in power in Delhi are doing the same."

The Trinamool Congress chief also announced that her MPs would protest the BJP’s "politics of vendetta" in parliament Monday.
