Navaratri Garba fete by Gandhi Samaj

CHICAGO, IL — Gandhi Samaj of Chicago (GSC), one of the oldest cultural organizations of Indian-Americans in the US, presented “Bharti Desai Midwest Queen of Garba” on October 8 at Maine East high school, 2601 west Dempster Street, Park ridge, IL.

This auspicious event was celebrated by over 700 GSC members, friends, and well-wishers.

 

The whirling dancers, clapping hands, distinct sound of wooden ‘Dandia’ striking together, toe-tapping music and people wearing vibrant colorful clothes marked the Navratri celebration at the Garba & Dandiya Raas dances held all over Chicagoland.

 

This year, the Navratri celebration was organized by Keyur Ghayal (president), Hitesh Gandhi (executive vice president), Bhumika Gandhi (vice president), Ashwin Bodalia (treasurer), Roma Bhagat (cultural secretary), Manhar Gajjar (secretary) along with joint sectaries Bharat Ghayal, Ramesh Gandhi, Dipak Ghayal and the youth committee Hiren Ghayal and Priya Ghayal of GSC.

 

Garba Queen of Midwest, Bharti Desai, is a renowned award-winning singer in the Chicago who enthralled the audience with her charming personality. She also did a great job at the in Gandhi Samaj Navaratri garba.
