CHICAGO, IL – For the third consecutive year, the 11-day Devon Ka Raja Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated with huge success under the leadership of Nirmal Shewakramani supported by Regal Jewels, Hi India’s Hemant Brahmbhatt, as well as Uru Swati, Resham Saris & Hindi Lovers club.
Devon Ka Raja, one of the most popular and eagerly-awaited festivals in the community, was held in the heart of the Devon Avenue from September 5 to 15.
Pandit Nagendra Rao, known for his rich knowledge of Hindu religion and its elaborate rituals and ceremonies, performed different poojas like Shivling Pooja, Hanuman Pooja, Laxmi Pooja, Kubar Pooja, Satyanarayan Pooja and Shree Ganesh Pooja every day.
Devon Ka Raja was a greatly successful event this year, thanks to devotees’ love for Lord Ganesh and their generous contributions. But the main credit goes to Regal Jewels family with each of its members working tirelessly to see that the well-managed functions went off smoothly and the festivities were a grand success.
But it was Kajal and Rahul from Regal Jewels who constantly coordinated with volunteers and community leaders to ensure faultless management at every stage.
The concluding day witnessed pooja, bhajan, kirtan, prasadam and visarjan what with devotees from entire Chicago and its sburbs participating in the Ganesh immersion. The main attraction was a very well-decorated palkhi of Ganesh for which the entire Devon Ka Raja team put their best foot forward.
The Ganesh procession moved on with artists from India playing Mrudangam and Kombu (Trumpet) leaving the devotees and onlookers spellbound.
Indeed, Regal family, Devon Ka Raja team along with sponsors and supporters deserve praise for bringing positive energy to the business community. After all, Devon Ka Raja festivities attract countless visitors for 11 days bringing good business to all establishments on Devon Ave.
Nirmal & family of Regal Foundation have ambitious plans to build a grand Ganesh Temple on Devon Ave., having already spent over a million dollars and buying vast space for the shrine. The temple building is under construction and will open for devotees soon.
Hi India publisher Hemant Brahmbhatt has appealed to the community to donate generously for the temple project. Donations are being collected under 501C Non-profit organization. For more information, one can visit www.devonkaraja.com.
