BIC set to host Asia Road Racing championship, Asia Dream cup this weekend

Greater Noida, Sep 30: The Buddh International Circuit (BIC) is all set to host the fifth round of the Asia Road Racing championship 2016 (ARRC) and Asia Dream cup 2016 here this weekend.

With over 700 Moto GP wins and inching towards triple-crown victory in 2016 MotoGP globally, Japanese two-wheeler giants Honda have the top three riders taking part in the competition.

Fulfilling their long standing dream to represent India on international stage will be Honda's Sarath Kumar, Hari Krishnan and Sethu Rajiv.

A two-time Honda One Make Race Champion (2014 and 2013), the 24-year-old Sarath is the first-Indian rider to participate in 125GP and Moto-3 CEV championship and the first to get a podium finish in 2014 season of Asia Dream Cup. 

In the 2016 Asia Road Racing championship, he will challenge Asia's best racers in the most closely contested Super Sports 600cc segment.

On the other hand, it will be the 22-year-old Hari's second season at the Asia Dream cup. This season he is in full form and has already created history as the only Indian racer to have bagged two podium finishes (second at Round 2 in Thailand and third at Round 3 in Japan) in the first three rounds. 

Completing the trio of Honda racers is one of India's most promising young racer Sethu. The 19-year-old started professional racing in 2013 and with his quick learning ability, he won multiple podium finishes in CBR 250R Honda One Make Race Championship. He will make his debut in the Asia Dream cup.

Commenting on the upcoming race, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd. (HMSI) vice-president Prabhu Nagaraj said: "We are rooting for strong performances and podium finishes by the Indian contingent of Sarath Kumar, Hari Krishnan and Sethu Rajiv."

"As first step, we have handpicked the best talent from India and planned their career progression right teaching racing basics at grass-root level (Honda Ten 10 Racing Academy) to giving a national platform (Honda One Make Race) and taking India's best riders global (Asia Dream Cup / Asia Road Racing Championship)."

"Our objective is to see Asia's riders grow and hopefully represent Asia in the coveted Moto3 and later Moto GP championships," he added.
